"Sex with Clergy and Veggie Burgers" by Elizabeth June

How do you benefit from growing up in a fundamentalist Christian cult where cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine, jewelry, cosmetics and meat are strictly forbidden? An environment where you are prohibited from working or playing on Saturdays and you’ve been molested by two of the very ministers who taught you these precepts? You write a best-selling book about it…

Surviving Sex with Clergy and Veggie Burgers” is a dark, comedic fictional narrative depicting the emotional, sexual and spiritual exploitation of April Roach, a 40 year old writer. When denied “the right hand of fellowship” because she is living “in sin”, April decides to threaten the Seventh-Day Adventist denomination with a sexual abuse lawsuit demanding a full refund of the money she has paid in tithe, offerings and tuition for 35 years of her life.

April also includes sections throughout the book “outing” famous Seventh-day Adventists (a la Adam Sandler who “outs” famous Jews) who were: Raised SDAs like R&B Vocalist Brian McKnight, Praised SDAs like Dr. Ben Carson and U.S. Senate Chaplain Admiral Barry Black and Crazed SDAs like David Koresh- the Whacko from Waco.
